BoosterHub Academy: 8.0 BoosterBucks—Fundraising

BoosterBucks is our integrated fundraising tool.  There is an additional charge of 5% platform fee for BoosterBucks. To set up a BoosterBucks fundraiser:

  • Go to Fundraising and click the How to Get Started button.
  • Read the screens and agree to continue.
  • Create USIO Merchant Account. If not already done when you first started your BoosterHub subscription, you will create an additional merchant account, with information populated from Settings. USIO merchant accounts usually take 1-2 days to process. Once complete, you'll be ready to start your BoosterBucks rally.
  • Click New Rally. This brings up your Edit Rally page. Fill in all the information that will be on your BoosterBucks site. Create a Rally Name and Rally Dates. For dates, we suggest 28 days or less, as the shorter your time frame, the more likely you'll be able to build excitement to donate. Set your Rally Goal, and identify which Admin should be sent rally updates.
  • Draft the message that will go on the BoosterBucks rally website. It is helpful to talk about your program and its history. You have 600 characters in the box, so you can get into some detail. Select the photo to show up on the main rally website. Each participant will get to set up their own website once this part has started.
  • Use the six boxes to describe the specific ways in which the donations are used. You will then have the option to set custom donation amounts, with explanations of the specific use of a donation of that size.
  • Select rally participants to be in a single team, or multiple teams competing with each other in fundraising. Multiple teams often helps build excitement around the rally, and members can be selected for teams by Tag or added individually.
  • Create a custom rally thank you message to thank donors after the rally is complete.
  • Once all of the fields are complete, Save the rally. The rally will show up in the dashboard in the rally list and will be ready for you to start, but the Save button by itself will not start the rally.
  • Once you are on the Rallies page within Fundraising, you can see the full rally page, including fundraising totals, donate buttons, date information, the specifics on how donations are used, and the Shout Out Wall to show donors and amounts.
  • When you are ready to start the rally, click the Start Rally button. This will send an email and text message to all participants with help to set up their own fundraising page. Your participants will continue to see these emails over the course of your fundraiser.
  • Next is the most important part of the fundraiser. The participants will use a simple wizard to set up their own pages, starting with designing their own page, telling their story of why they are raising money, and uploading their own personal photo. It is good to do this step together and in-person if possible, so that all the users can help each other get started. Make sure that all your users complete this step. At any time, the user can click the View page to see what their page will look like, and when complete, they will click Save and Publish at the bottom.
  • Participants now invite friends, family, and supporters to donate by adding the names, email addresses, and phone numbers to the list. The goal is to have at least 20 family and friend contacts. Over the course of the fundraiser, BoosterBucks will contact those on the list on your behalf, and encourage them to donate to the fundraiser. Once they have added their contacts, they will click Save and Invite. This will send the email and SMS messages to those people.
  • Participants now send personal messages to the recipients, including the link to the fundraising page. Once they click Done, it will create the participant's personal fundraising page, with the personal photo, story, and fundraising goal.
  • And finally, one of most important things the participant can do is to share their personal fundraising page via social media, using one of the social media sharing buttons on the page.

Once the rally has been started, the fundraiser will appear on the main Fundraising page, showing top fundraisers, top teams, goal, and funds currently raised.  If you click on the rally, it will give you detailed rally reporting, showing how much money has been raised on the team fundraising page, as well as the number of contacts and donors for each participant.

If the participants need to edit their rally page, they can find their page under People, selecting their contact name, and looking at the bottom of the page in the Fundraising tab.
