BoosterHub Academy: 6.0 Webmaster—Subdomains, Custom Domains, and Home Page
All BoosterHub websites are built on BoosterHub subdomains with names like “ghsfootball.boosterhub.com” or “centralathletics.boosterhub.com.” If you have a custom domain like “ghsfootball.com,” you can contact our team and we will help you forward your custom domain into your BoosterHub subdomain as well. Web hosting is included in your BoosterHub subscription.
To build a website in BoosterHub, navigate to Webmaster. Once you have selected a subdomain name, click Save and navigate back to Webmaster > Pages.
BoosterHub websites are built on templates by design. They automatically update many of the items, and templates keep the required work simple, so that it is easy to update for you and for the officers that follow you. First, let's look at the Home Page.
- The top line of the Home Page automatically updates with your logo, name, and any links you have put in.
- The top section of the Home Page is where you will put your design stamp on the website: the Hero Image. The Hero Image allows you to upload an image with all the graphics and text in one image, or you can upload just a photo and then overlay text. Choose Fit to Image to adjust the photo to exactly fit the box, or choose to Zoom In, Zoom Out , or Stack. Choosing an Overlay Color over the top of the image is particularly helpful if you will also have text on top of the image. Select the default website font, and create the first and second lines of the Title and any subheading text, and click Save.
- The Home Page has two separate calls to action—one at the top and one at the bottom—to encourage website visitors to join the booster club, donate, buy Tickets, etc. These will include text and a link to the page where visitors can undertake the action.
- The next section is the body of the website. It is built with the Add News feature. Start by clicking Webmaster > + Add News. Add a Headline, choose whether to make the item Featured, which will make it a large image on the website, and choose the length of the article and how much to show on the Home Page.
- The Upcoming Events section is populated automatically by your Calendar, with events marked as Public.
- The Sponsor section is a great place to highlight your sponsor logos. There is a Sponsor section on every page of the website in order to give sponsors visibility and recognition. The Sponsor box allows you to upload a number of photos and automatically lays them out and resizes them.
- The Subscribe box at the bottom of the Home Page is a great way to add people to your mailing list. You can add any field that you have in the People section. The photo and overlay in the Subscribe box works the same for the Hero box at the top of the page. Information collected in the Subscribe box automatically gets added to People.
- The Footer section will automatically update with your navigation bar as you publish the pages (as will the top navigation bar), and you can add, for example, verbiage stating that the booster club website is not affiliated with the school district.
Once you have completed the basics on the Home Page, click Save. If you want to go ahead and publish the page, click the Save and Publish up-arrow icon at the top right of the screen.
