Accessibility at BoosterHub

Booster clubs serve every family in their program, and your club's website and tools should be usable by everyone. This article explains how BoosterHub approaches accessibility, what standards apply, and what you can do to keep your own club content accessible.

Is BoosterHub ADA compliant?

This is a common question, especially from schools and districts. Here is the short answer: the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not certify software platforms directly. Instead, the standard that schools, districts, and courts look to for web content is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.1, Level AA (often shortened to WCAG 2.1 AA).

BoosterHub is designed with accessibility in mind, and we are actively working toward full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance across the platform, including club websites, member pages, stores, and forms.

What WCAG 2.1 AA covers

WCAG 2.1 AA is a set of technical guidelines that make web content usable for people with disabilities. It covers areas such as:

• Screen reader compatibility, so pages can be read aloud to users with visual impairments
• Keyboard navigation, so the site can be used without a mouse
• Color contrast, so text is readable for users with low vision or color blindness
• Text alternatives for images, so images convey meaning to users who cannot see them
• Clear structure and labels on forms, buttons, and links

What we do on our side

Accessibility is part of our development process. Our team reviews new features against WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, treats reported accessibility issues as priority items, and continues to improve conformance across existing areas of the platform.

What you can do on your side

Some content on your club website comes from you, and a few simple habits keep it accessible:

• Avoid putting important information only inside an image, such as a flyer with event details. Include the details as regular text on the page as well
• Choose text and background colors with strong contrast when customizing your site
• Use clear, descriptive link text such as "View the volunteer signup" rather than "click here"
